Agility acquisition strengthens network in Australia and New Zealand

Agility has signed an agreement to acquire leading freight forwarder, LEP International Pty Ltd in Australia and LEP International (NZ) Ltd in New Zealand, and the related project logistics company, Pan Orient Shipping Services Pty Ltd which trades under the name of AFS Projects and Logistics.

LEP International’s network across the region incorporates its headquarters in Melbourne and branch offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. LEP International (NZ) Ltd has offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Pan Orient has a footprint across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia.

Agility previously held a 25 per cent equity stake in LEP International in both the Australian and New Zealand companies and has been working with them both for many years as network partners. Pan Orient has partnered with Agility on a number of major projects, especially in the mining industry. "We are very pleased that the deal has been completed and our network partners in Australasia will join Agility. LEP International in Australia has a good mix of local and global customers with whom they have developed excellent long term relationships," said Wolfgang Hollermann, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific.

"Strategically, Agility in Australia and New Zealand will now be one of the major players, providing our customers in the region and around the world with a deeper and broader range of freight and logistics services," he added.

"AFS has a identical business philosophy and orientation as the Project Specialty Unit, led by former TransOceanic now Agility Project Logistics" commented Mark-Marian Siegert, Managing-Director Asia-Pacific for Agility Project Logistics. "Recently, Agility Project Logistics office in Australia has been awarded a Goldmine project in Boddington/Australia, whereby we will realize synergy opportunities in establishing a joint work-force of the combined project team from Agility Project Logistics and AFS. AFS and Agility Project Logistics will continue to strive to meet and exceed our project client expectations" he added.

Mick Turnbull, Managing Director of LEP International Pty Ltd in Australia said: "We have worked with Agility as a network partner for many years and we feel the integration of LEP International into this dynamic fast growing company will provide our customers with leading edge services and global reach." John Beattie, General Manager of AFS Project Logistics, added: "The opportunity now to leverage Agility’s projects capability and network will allow us to provide an enhanced global service for our customers as well as enhancing our access to Agility’s substantial customer base and other logistics capabilities."
