Transoceanic's Jagremar Marine registered in the Peoples Republic of China

January 6, 2005

Transoceanic Shipping Company, Inc. announced today the registration of Jagremar Marine, Inc., in the People’s Republic of China. This registration represents a major step forward in the continued development of Transoceanic China and enhances the company's ability to provide extended logistics services to project shippers.

Under the terms of the new bilateral maritime agreement between the United States and China, Transoceanic's Jagremar division secured the first NVOCC certificate to be issued by the Ministry of Communication of the PRC. Transoceanic, through it's NVOCC [non vessel operating common carrier] Jagremar, now operating under the new maritime agreement possesses improved flexibility to provide enhanced door to door ocean transportation to shippers.

Transoceanic clients will be able to use Jagremar Marine to ship cargo to and from U.S. and Chinese ports, and inland points, using through bills-of-lading on a prepaid or a collect basis. The advantage to US project shippers is the direct market access provided by our NVOCC operation. With this agreement in place, the shipment of goods to and from China is facilitated and Transoceanic clients have additional new shipping options to one of the world’s most dynamic global markets.
