Transoceanic/UK secures major contract awards in Saudi Arabia

Over the past 4 months, Transoceanic/UK has secured four major project awards from several prominent engineering contractors in the UK, totalling some US$ 120 million in contract value. The projects have been awarded on a turnkey basis, which requires the movement of materials and major equipment from global origins direct to the job sites, which are located in both the Eastern and Western provinces of KSA.

The first contract was the Khursaniya Gas Plant (KGP) Project, which is located in Al Jubail and shipping on the Project started in February of this year. The KGP Project is estimated to be close to 500,000 freight tonnes and the client, ARAMCO, has emphasised the importance of a “fast track” schedule.

Transoceanic also secured the Utilities & Offsites Project for SABIC (YANSAB), which is located in Yanbu. The total tonnage is expected to reach 100,000 freight tonnes. The early shipments have commenced, with some of the major heavy-lift items ex-Italy already booked well in advance. The market is currently dictating that these heavy-lift items be booked as early as possible to guarantee that the vessels are in position and construction schedules are not delayed.

Two further awards were given during March for the SHARQ Project and the Ethylene and U&O Projects, which came from the engineering contractors involved. These two projects will total 200,000 freight tonnes, with a start up in March, 2006. The projects will run through December, 2007.

For each of these projects, Transoceanic has placed their own staff “In-House” within the client’s offices to work as part of an integrated team. Furthermore Transoceanic will mobilize their own Project Management Personnel to Saudi Arabia to coordinate and manage the in-Kingdom operations.

The success of these major project awards has been a global effort with close collaboration between Transoceanic’s office in London, Dubai and Houston, and it is anticipated that most of the company’s global offices will be featured during the execution phase of these various projects. The material supply-chain will touch most corners of the globe, including China, Korea, Japan, USA, South America, Middle East, and of course Europe.

Transoceanic is a PWC Logistics company.
